Zambia’s preparation for their FIFA World Cup qualification with Nigeria has been rocked by injury to two key players of their playing squad.
The duo of South Africa based Brian Nwila and Emmanuel Banda has been ruled out from the clash with the Super Eagles.
Nwila who netted a brace in their 3-1 win over the Desert Warriors of Algeria has been battling with a hip injury he sustained during the clash.
Belgium based Emmanuel Banda has also failed to recover from an injury he sustained in a club game.
Team Doctor George Magwende confirmed the sad news to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) saying: “Brian will not be part of the team as he had a recurrence of the injury he suffered during the Algeria game. It is best to give him time to fully recover, so also Banda, he stated.
Leaving no stone unturned, team gaffer Wedson Nyirenda has called up replacements for both players. The duo of Power Dynamos forward Alex Ng’onga and Zesco United’s John Ching’andu have been called up to fill the vacuum left by Mwila and Banda.
The 2012 African champions are expected to jet in on Thursday for the cracker.
Nigeria sit top of Group B with 10 points, followed closely by Zambia in second with 7 points.
