Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo are doubtful for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final clash against Algeria on Sunday.
The duo missed Friday’s training at the Aerosport Pitch, but the Franco-German coach is hopeful they will pass late fitness test in Saturday’s training.
“We had some players who couldn’t make the training programs, and we had special recovery session. Musa and Ighalo didn’t make the training but we are hopeful they will be ready before the game on Sunday,” Rohr said to Naijafootballplus.com.
Historically, the three-time African champions will play their 15th AFCON semi-final game at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday against the Les Fennecs.
Rohr added; “We have prepared for the game, like we do all the time, we don’t change our usual preparations. The players must be focused and stay calm. No special emotions for the game, everyone must be cool headed for this important game.
“Algeria is a wonderful team, I think mentally we are strong, our young team learned a lot at the World Cup, and the experience has been helping us in this tournament.”
