3SC star Olukokun joyous over scoring return

Shooting Stars forward Nojeem Olukokun has admitted the difficulty the Oluyole Warriors battled against Gombe United in the NPFL Matchday 33 encounter last weekend in Ibadan.

Shooting Stars came from behind at home and secured a 2-1 win over the Desert Scorpions. The visitors took a shock lead through Musa Usman in the 55th minute. Seun Akinyemi levelled scores for the host from the spot in the 72nd minute. Olukokun came on from the bench and scored the winner for the Oluyole Warriors late in the game.

The former Kwara United forward who was sidelined for three months due to injury this season expressed his joy on his return to scoring again.

“It was a difficult game for us but the team battle really hard to come from behind and win. We were stunned when they took the lead and fear was on us. It is not easy to battle for survival and playing against a relegation threatened side like us makes the game more difficult,” said Olukokun to Naijafootballplus.com.

“It wasn’t easy coming back from injury and I appreciate my team for the support I got when I was down. I’m really happy to get on the score sheet, my hard work and effort since I came back from injury had paid off this time. I have to remain focus and help the team with more goals that will secure our top flights status.

Shooting Stars will travel to Umuahia to play Abia Warriors this weekend in the NPFL matchday 34 clash at the Umuahia Township Stadium. Abia Warriors go into the fixture inspired by their 4-2 away win at Lobi Stars last weekend.

Olukokun added: “The victory gives us a confident boost ahead of our next game at Abia Warriors, we will take a lot of positives and the hard work to Umuahia. We have to believe we can cause an upset.

“They are also motivated with their emphatic win at Lobi Stars and they are also not comfortable on the log. We have to fancy our chances and put up a spirited performance, everything is open for us and we have got our destiny of survival in our hands.”
