FIFAU20WWCQ: Falconets defeats South Africa, put one foot in France

Nigeria’s Falconets on Saturday afternoon secured a first leg 0-2 victory over South Africa in a FIFA Women U20 world cup qualifier played in South Africa.

First-half goals from Rasheedat Ajibade and Anam Imo secured the impressive first leg win for the Nigerian women. The victory puts Nigeria in control of the tie on aggregate ahead of the return leg in a fortnight.

The return leg comes up on January 26, 2018, with the winners on aggregate to pick one of Africa’s two tickets for the U-20 Women’s World Cup slated for France this year.
