Okpotu opens goal account as Nigeria see off Equatorial Guinea

Nigeria sealed qualification to the quarter-finals of the ongoing African Nations championship in Morocco thanks to a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea in their last group game of Group C.

Anthony Okpotu’s header in the second half drew Nigeria level after they trailed to a headed goal scored by Salvador Eyama before the break. Dayo Ojo’s rocket from 25-yards gave the Super Eagles the lead before Rabiu Ali converted from the spot to make it 3-1 on 83minutes to seal the victory.

Three points at the expense of Equatorial Guinea who had nothing to play for but pride was enough to see Nigeria top group C with seven points. Equatorial Guinea head home pointless after three group matches.

In the group’s other match, an injury time goal from Abushnaf helped Libya stun Rwanda 1-0 to progress to the quarter-finals as group runners up.
