Former Home-Based Eagles’ midfielder, Aremu Afeez has signed the dotted
lines to agree a 3-year contract with Nowegian side, IK Start.
The combative midfielder, who was on loan at Akwa United last season from Westerlo football academy, had previously joined Inter Allies of Ghana late last year, as to make the deal easier for the Sør Arena outfit.
The club’s Sporting Director, Tor-Kristian Karlsen while voicing his excitement over the acquisition, also said the club has been tracking the 18-year-old since his awesome performance at the 2017 WAFU championship in Ghana.
“We are delighted that Afeez Aremu is finally ready for Start. The player was first noted by Mick Priest during the WAFU championship this fall and since then, he has also been involved in the national team of Nigeria in the World Cup qualifier. We hope this young man can be a solid boost in the midfield,” He expressed to the club official website.
Karslen then gushed on the “European” technically abilities of the player, while noting his physical side too.
“Afeez is very ‘European’ in his game style. As an essentially defensive midfielder, he makes things easy, looks at solutions early and rarely stresses the ball. In addition, he works hard and is a loyal team player.” He concluded.
Afeez only started his professional career last season with that loan spell at the Nest Of Champions, and he shun just bright enough to get him call ups to the Home-Based Eagles’ camp and ultimately, the Super Eagles’ camp.
