We present for your reading pleasure, a review of Nigerian players across Europe on Tuesday 23 January, 2018.
ISREAL – FA CUP
Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme scored the second goal in the 43rd minute via the penalty spot to help Hapoel Beer Sheva to a 2-0 win over Hapoel Ramat Gan.
Also in action was Nwakaeme’s national and club teammate John Ogu in his defensive midfield role.
BELGUIM – LEAGUE 1ST DIVISION
Super Eagles versatile defender Uche Agbo returned to the Standard Liege starting lineup after missing out last weekend, but he was unable to prevent his side from going down 1-2 to host Zulte-Waregem in a midweek league clash.
Agbo, deployed as a defensive midfielder was on for the full duration of the match. He was yellow carded in the 34th minute as Liege ended the game with 10 men after a late red card to Edmilson Junior.
Nigerian left back Kingsley Madu came on in the 46th minute to replace injured Brian Hamalainen for the victorious Zulte Waregem team.
Madu has been a regular glum figure on the bench for Waregem for many games this season, but was impressive when called upon in this game.
On loan Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi was on the field for 90 minutes for Royal Excel Mouscron who were thoroughly beaten 0-3 at home by Kortrijk.
Kotrijk meanwhile did not require the contributions of former Flying Eagles forward Abduljaleel Ajagun who observed proceedings from the bench.
FRANCE – Coupe De France
Super Eagles central defender Chidozie Awaziem’s Nantes lost 3-4 to Auxerre with the winning goal coming after Nantes went a man short due to a red card.
