An eventful periods of breathtaking moments ensued in the match day nine fixture between Heartland FC and visiting Wikki Tourists in the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League Season.
The visitors from Bauchi tutored by former Heartland Assistant Coach, Magnut Mbwas stunned the host in the 10th minute when Abubakar Umar’s flying header beat goalkeeper Ebele Obi in goal to score the opener for Wikki Tourists courtesy of a delightful free kick by Giwa Isacc.
Moments later, Heartland FC drew level in the 13th minute off a low driven shot by Nnamdi Egbujo to restore parity for the Naze Millionaires.
The first half of the encounter was marred with missed glaring opportunities by both sides – notably, Nnamdi Egbujo’s poor touch of the ball in Wikki’s 18 yard box in the 23rd minute that would have been a goal but the Wikki Tourists defence did avert the impending danger. At the other end of the pitch, Wikki Tourists attacking duo of Chima Ndukwu and Abubakar Umar were guilty of missed chances in the game as both sides went into the interval 1-1 apiece.
The second half proceedings saw a change in tide as the host dominated possession in search of the winner. Man of the match awardee, Flan Ikelejousi pressured the Wikki Tourists defense who were resolute in their defending.
Towards the final moments of the game, tempers flared from both ends as players produced crazy tackles which amounted to six yellow cards been issued by the referee. Indeed, Heartland’s fairy tale of dropping points at home would have come to a halt, but Nnamdi Egbujo’s deflected effort in the 94th minute paved way for the winner as a joyous Coach Ramson Madu went berserk on the touchline having Heartland FC to coast home the maximum points.
