Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker, Aaron Samuel seems to be making a strong case for a look in from Gernot Rohr after inspiring his team to victory with a brace in Amkar Perm’s 2-1 win over Lokomotiv Moscow in their match week 24 action in the Russian Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Aaron Samuel cancelled out Manuel Fernandes’ 16th minute penalty opener with a spot kick of his own just after the intermission after his teammate, Aleksandr Ryazantsev had drawn a foul from Fernandes in the area.
The 23-year old CSKA Moscow loanee proceeded to strike the winner at the Zvezda Stadium a minute shy of the hour mark with a left footed shot from the left side of the six yard box into the bottom left corner after connecting with a Petar Zanev’s cross.
The goals were his first competitive goals for The Red and Blacks since joining from CSKA and would definitely have bolstered his stock with such scintillating performance.
His fellow Super Eagles internationals in the shape of Fegor Ogude and Brian Idowu who were on parade for the hosts went the entirety of the game while Samuel was replaced by Darko Bodul 25 minutes from time.
Amkar Perm are placed 12th on the Premier League’s 16-team table with their latest win, and have garnered 25 points after 23 rounds of games in the division.
