Super Eagles utility player, Shehu Abdullahi has promised Nigerians a great game against Bafana Bafana on Saturday.

The three-time African champions will host South Africa in the 2019 AFCON matchday one qualifier at the Nest of Champions, Uyo.

The Anorthosis Famagusta of Cyprus player said his teammates are in high spirit to give their best performance against South Africa.

“The spirit in camp is high and we have prepared enough for this big game. The mood in camp and the believe in the squad is amazing,” said Abdullahi to Naijafootballplus.com after the team final training session on Friday night.

“We are looking forward to the game and we understand it won’t be an easy encounter. They (South Africa) have got a new manager and the momentum in their camp is expected to be high.

“I’m confident we will conquer and start the qualifiers with a win. I want to assure Nigerians that we won’t disappoint them, we are optimistic.

“We are expecting a big fight from them, but I think the amount of work we have put into preparation would help us sail through. We have the full compliments of the squad and we are ready to shine.”

Media reports revealed the 2016 Olympics bronze medalist would start ahead of Tyronne Ebuehi at the right back position.

Abdullahi added; “Honestly, we have been working as a team and this team is not built on any individual. It’s all about team work and preparation.

“No player has a guarantee shirt, the coach has made the selection open for us to work for it as a team. It’s not about me starting but the team victory.”
