Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side, Abia Angels, have unveiled 21 new players for the 2018 league season.
The Umuahia based female football side tutored by former Super Falcons assistant coach, Ann Chiejine, signed 15 new players and promoted six other players from the feeder team, including the impressive Chiamaka Okwuchukwu who nearly made the Flamingoes team to Jordan last year.
Abia Angels needed to recoup after over 24 players left them last season for other clubs and the need to recruit became very important.
A bulk of the 21 players came from Ibom Angels, neighboring Heartland Queens and troubled Taraba Queens.
The promotion of as many as six players to the senior team can be seen as a sign of good things at the club which run their feeder team with the aim of having a pool of talents to develop for the big stage.
Abia Angels will take on Osun Babes in the matchday two of the NWFL in Umuahia on Wednesday. They lost 4-1 to Sunshine Queens in Akure on matchday one.
