Three players of Nigerian decent Tammy Abraham, Dominic Solanke, Josh Onomah scored the goals England U-21 needed to see off Scotland 3-1 in the European qualification match on Friday.
It is no longer news that the Nigerian Football Federation is doing everything possible to get the country’s brightest young talents to switch allegiance to the national team and such performances from these players will certainly fan the flames of acquiring these stars.
First to score at the Riverside stadium was on-loan Tottenham star Onomah with a beautiful shot outside the box in the 13th minute.
And in the 48th minute of the second half, Tammy Abraham who plays for Swansea on-loan from Chelsea stepped up to convert from the penalty spot.
It was the turn of Liverpool young forward Dominic Solanke to finish off a fine combination from the two previous goal scorers to make it 3-1 after the Scottish side threatened a come back with a goal of their own.
Another Young Nigerian player who is also in the radar of Nigeria, Everton’s Lookman Ademola came on as an 84th minute substitute.
Another English born Nigerian Fikayo Tomori was an unused substitute in the match, but all the lads will be hoping for a look in when they play Andorra next week.
