Shooting Stars forward, Abu Azeez has said the Oluyole Warriors will survive relegation come the end of the on-going Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The five-time NPFL champions intensified their fight for survival with a 1-1 draw at Rangers International last weekend at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Azeez Abu levelled scores for Shooting Stars in the 77th minute of the game. Abu’s first goal as Shooting Stars player cancelled out Godwin Aguda’s opener in the first-half.
“I feel great scoring my first goal for Shooting Stars, the goal was also important for the team against Rangers and we are happy with our performance away from home. I’m happy to be counted among goal scorers in the history of the club,” Abu said to Naijafootballplus.com.
Shooting Stars are 19th on the 20-team NPFL table with 33 points from 28 matches. They will host Katsina United this weekend in the NPFL matchday 29 clash in Ibadan.
The Super Sand Eagles star his optimistic the Ibadan based club will survive the drop.
Abu added; “We will continue to work hard, win our home matches and fight big on the road. We are optimistic of surviving the drop, we won’t relegate. The team have got a big degree and reservedly to be in the top flight.
“We have to pick the positives from last weekend result and build on it. Concentration is key and important at the moment, we have to prepare for this weekend and secure the three points.
“Our fans should believe in us, we are not giving up. We are fighting this course and we need them to join the chase. We need them to come and support us during our home matches, they have got a big role to play.”
