Flying Eagles assistant coach Abubakar Bala has confirmed he has signed a one-year contract deal to be Kwara United’s new technical adviser.
The former Niger Tornadoes coach replaces John Obuh who parted ways with the Ilorin based club on Monday after a run of poor results after 12 rounds of matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
“We have reached an official agreement and I have signed my contract papers with Kwara United,” Abubakar Bala told Naijafootballplus.com from his new team base in Ilorin.
“It’s a one-year deal and I am ready for the big challenge ahead of us. The task is clear to ensure this great club survive relegation. We have discussed and proffered solutions to the domestic challenges and I am optimistic of a successful outing at the end of the season,” he added.
Bala will be officially unveiled to the fans and media tomorrow inside the Kwara Township Stadium, Ilorin.
As coach of Niger Tornadoes, Bala led the Minna-based club to the final of the Federation Cup (Aiteo cup) where they lost on penalties to Akwa United in the 2016-17 season. He also led Niger Tornadoes to an 11th placed league finish in the same season.
Kwara United are bottom of the 20-team NPFL table with 11 points from 12 matches.
