Niger Tornadoes handler Abubakar Bala has attributed Sunday’s 2-1 defeat in the Nigeria Professional Football League by Shooting Stars to a “loss of concentration”.
Having seen his team fight their way back into the match and the scores tied at 1-1, Niger Tornadoes conceded a late goal in the 81st minute to leave the Lekan Salami stadium empty handed.
When asked by naijafootballplus.com after the match if he felt disappointed with the final result, coach Bala wasted no time to decry his team’s recent knack of conceding late into matches.
“I’m not much disappointed,” Bala said.
“My area of contention is how our boys lose concentration especially in the dieing minutes. This is the third match we’re conceding such goals.
“We conceded the same goal against Sunshine almost eighty something minutes before we got our second in the 93rd minute. We conceded the same last minute goal against Lobi Stars and we are still conceding a die minute goal today. The most important thing is at every point of the match we must concentrate”.
Asked how he intends to solve the problem going into match day 19 where they’ll play Kano Pillars, Bala said:
“Before going into the second stanza we have a home match against Kano Pillars.
“They are a mature side so we cannot go and play Pillars like this loosing concentration. We must work very hard on it before our next match”.
Despite the defeat, Niger Tornadoes remain in 4th place on the NPFL ranking with 27 points.
