AFCON 2019 Qualifier: Amuneke’s Tanzania qualification hopes revived

Former Nigeria Super Eagles player and Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke hopes of leading the Taifa Stars of Tanzania to the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament was revived on Tuesday after they defeated Cape Verde 2-0 in Dar Salam.

Cape Verde at the weekend thrashed Tanzania 3-0 on match day 3 of the qualifier to dampen the hope of the team.

But goals from Saimo Nsueva and Mbwana Samatta ensured maximum 3 points for the country.

The victory took the country to second spot on the table with hopes of securing one of the two tickets allocated to the group.

Tanzania will take on Lesotho in November before playing the Cranes of Uganda in the last group match slated for March 2019.
