In readiness for the much awaited African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2019 qualifier against Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered another set back on Wednesday as striker Odion Ighalo is ruled out of the crunch tie with injury as Henry Onyekuru replaces him.
The Nigeria team who lost their first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho on Monday after he was ruled out by his Spanish Segunda side Elche and was replaced in the national team by Enyimba safe hands Theophilus Afelokhai, will also be without their first choice striker.
Ighalo suffered the injury while playing for his club Changchun Yatai against Tianjin Quanjain on Wednesday and was replaced after just 16 minutes.
The Nigeria Football Federation has quickly replaced him with one of the striker on the standby lists Henry Onyekuru, a move that was announced via their official twitter handle in the early hours of Thursday.
” @henryconyekuru replaces injured @ighalojude for game against South Africa. #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong #Afcon2019Q”
Nigeria will surely miss the in-form striker who notched 6 goals in the last three outings for the team.
South Africa will host Nigeria in a must win AFCON 2019 qualifying match on the 17th of November at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg.
