Super Eagles rightback, Shehu Abdullahi has promised to give his boyhood club, Sokoto United, a sum of 200 thousand naira irrespective of their defeat in the Aiteo Cup round of 32.
In a tweet from his official Twitter handle on Monday morning, the Bursaspor FC player congratulated Kano Pillars for their victory but wished Sokoto United success in the Nigeria National League (NNL) and hope they win promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“Congratulations @pillarsfc for the victory over Sokoto Utd in the @aiteogrp. Oh! Home team lost 2-0. Wishing Sokoto Utd success in the @nnationalleague, I hope they pick one of the tickets to @LMCNPFL. Despite not scoring against @pillarsfc, I’m giving out N200k to the team.
“Abdullahi who started his footballing career at Sokoto United promised the team 100 thousand naira for every goal scored against Pillars in their Aiteo Cup match on Sunday but with the team failing to score in a 2-0 defeat, the Nigerian international went ahead to give them the same amount for every goal they conceded.
Shehu Abdullahi moved from Sokoto United to Kano Pillars where he won the NPFL before moving to Europe.
He has played an integral part in the Super Eagles and has sealed the right back position in the Gernot Rohr tutored side.
