Still basking in the euphoria of league success, Plateau United defender Salomon Junior has called on his team-mates to get the job done on Wednesday when his side lock horns with Akwa Starlets in round of 16 of the Aiteo cup in Uyo.
Plateau United travel to Uyo to engage Nigeria National League campaigners Akwa Starlets on Wednesday in one of the round 16 fixtures and the former Bayelsa United defender has warned that his team must brace up to the challenge else they may suffer an upset because every team want to beat the newly crowned Nigeria league champions at this point in time.
“We need to be very focus and put aside the league success because we can’t afford to lose to Akwa Starlets,” said Salomon. Much is expected of us now that we are champions in the country but playing the Federation cup is another uphill task and we still have a mountain to climb.
“We are motivated to win the double and if we must do that we must start to believe we can. It’s going to be a very tough duel on Wednesday, but we assure our fans we will get a victory in Uyo against Akwa Starlets.
“We won’t let the league success enter our heads that we will be complacent of us, although it (winning the league) will be a morale booster and we will try as much as possible to get the job done in Uyo”, the Beninoise revealed to naijafootballplus.com
Plateau United ousted NLO side Ede United by a lone goal in Jos to reach the round of 16 while Akwa Starlets defeated Doma FC 4-2 in the round of 32 in Uyo before they were paired with the NPFL champions.
