Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Rotherham United defender cum midfielder Semi Ajayi continued his rich veins of form for English Championship side Rotherham United in the League on Wednesday.
The Nigeria youngster was the hero of the day as Rotherham United defeated it’s host Queen Park Rangers at Loftus Road to end away misery in the Championship during mid-week games.
Ajayi provided another contender for the goal of the season with a stunning strike from distance, spearing in a 22-yard shot that put the Millers ahead in the 71st minute. Another Nigerian-English midfielder Bright Osayi-Samuel drew the home team level in the 85th minutes of the keenly contested match. Ajayi scored a late winner and completed his brace when he headed home a free-kick in the additional time.
Ajayi brace earned Rotherham United their first away win in the Championship after 44 games, his second brace of the season.
Apparently, Ajayi is the most in-form Super Eagles player going into International break next week. He has featured in all 37 Championship games for Rotherham, accumulatively 3,330 minutes played this season. He started the season as a centre-back and he has settled in his new role as a Defensive Midfielder, starting the last 9 games in the midfield. Ajayi has scored five goals in the last seven games and six goals all season in the midfield role.
The 25-year-old will be linking up with his Super Eagles mates next week for the forthcoming AFCON 2019 qualifier against Seychelles and international friendly against Egypt in Asaba.
