Akpala named in Belgium league Team of the Week

Following his outstanding display for Belgian club, Oostende, former Super Eagles forward Joseph Akpala has been named in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League Team of the week.

The former Werder Bremen striker joined Oostende in 2015 after he left Turkish side Kardemir Karabukspor where he scored 4 goals in 25 appearances.

Akpala who also played for Insurance of Benin was outstanding as he helped Oostende to defeat Gent 3-2 in a fiercely contested duel.

The skilful attacker netted the second goal and had a hand in the build up to the winning goal of the encounter.

Akpala was on Monday selected by the Jupiler league board into the league Team of the week.

Akpala made his debut for Nigeria against South Africa on 6 September 2008. In June 2009, he scored his first goal for the Super Eagles in a 1–0 away win against France in Saint-Étienne .

He was also selected for Nigeria’s squad at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
