On loan Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom was amongst the goals in St.Truiden’s 4-0 demolition of Royal Antwerp in the Belgian First division playoff game.
Akpom scored the third goal for Truiden in the 71st minute after Ghanaian player Samuel Asamoah opened the floodgates in the 27th minute.
Jordan Botaka from Congo DR made it two in the 64th minute before Akpom got in on the act with a goal of his own, and Botaka made it even more comprehensive in the 88th minutes to notch his second.
Akpom, 22 years old, was then subbed off in the 81st minute with Babacar Gueye taking his place.
Akpom has now registered 2 goals for St. Truiden since joining on loan from English Premier League side Arsenal in mid season.
Chuba Akpom has represented England at the U-19 level and can still switch international allegiance to Nigeria, even though he doesn’t appear to be in the immediate plans of the Super Eagles German tactician Gernot Rohr who has been scouting players of Nigerian descent around Europe.
