Akwa United’s Musa Newman and Christian Pyagbara scored a goal in each half to condemn Wikki Tourists to yet another away defeat in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 22 fixture played at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium, Uyo on Wednesday.

Musa Newman gave Akwa United the lead five minutes before the half-hour mark when he struck from just inside the eighteen-yard box before substitute Christian Pyagbara wrapped up the victory for the promise keepers in added time.

With this defeat, Wikki Tourists have now lost all 12 matches they’ve played on their travels this season and are only three points above the dreaded relegation zone in 16th, level on 30 points with Rivers United in 15th. Wikki Tourists’ next fixture in the NPFL is an away trip to Nnewi to play FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

Akwa United on the other hand ensured they got back to winning again after last weekend’s 0-1 loss to reigning champions, Rangers International.

The promise keepers rose to 6th position with 36 points with an outstanding game. They next play host to Katsina United in the NPFL at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium on Sunday.
