In preparation for the upcoming AFCON 2019 qualifier clash between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Akwa United will move all their home games in the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League from the Nest of champions main bowl to the training pitch of the stadium in order to allow for proper maintainance of the pitch.
Akwa who has been playing all their home games on the turf is set to be off the main bowl until after the Nigeria, South Africa clash which is scheduled for the weekend of June 10, 2017.
With the current League calendar, Akwa United are likely to play forthcoming home games against ABS FC, Wikki Tourists and Katsina United away from the nest of champions (all fixtures are subject to changes by the LMC).
Akwa United are to play Ibom Feeders today in a rescheduled state Federation Cup semi-final fixture which was postponed yesterday due to a waterlogged pitch at the training are of the Nest of Champions.
