Al Ahly must reinforce to win CAF Champions League

Coach of the most successful Egyptian club side and 8 time CAF Champions League Champions, Hossam El Badri of Al Ahly, says Ahly will need to reinforce strongly, if they are to win this years Total CAF Champions League trophy.

Al Ahly last won the competition in 2013 and were close to winning it last year, but lost 2-1 to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in the Finals.

El Badri speaking to the Club official website said; “We will hire a good defender in the summer transfer window to help the team in the CAF Champions League group stages.

“There are many discussions with the club management to choose the best players before opening negotiations with their clubs,” El Badri informed.

He also divulged that player Nasser Maher has been recalled from Loan from Smouha Fc and other loaned players in saudi are been monitored.

“We are monitoring all our loanees in Egypt and in the Saudi League. The club decided to regain the services of Nasser Maher following his fine displays with Smouha.

“We are also monitoring our players in the Saudi league and we will decide their fate in the summer.

“The technical staff will discuss the needs of the team and it is likely that one of them will return to the team,” he concluded.

Al Ahly won their 40th league title this month, and for a team with a record like theirs, they are amongst top favorites for the trophy.

They are grouped alongside Esperance of Tunisia, and debuting KCCA FC of Uganda and Township Rollers FC Of Botswana
