FC Ifeanyi Ubah continued their fine start to the season holding Go Round FC to a goalless draw in their Match Day 3 encounter in Omoku.
The match, though devoid of goals was keenly contested, with FC Ifeanyi Ubah holding firm to withstand a late barrage from the home side.
Warriors captain Chijioke Alaekwe was in the team last season which also held Go Round FC to a draw at the Kris Dera Stadium and told Naijafootballplus it felt good repeating the feat this season with a largely inexperienced squad.
“We are happy to come here to pull a draw with the team we have,” said Alaekwe.
“They haven’t played here before. I told them of the experience we had last season and that we can come this time and do same.”
FC Ifeanyi Ubah played out a goalless draw against Plateau United in the season’s opening day and followed it up with a hard fought 1:0 win over Nasarawa United at home on match day 2.
Alaekwe is optimistic that the current squad though lacking in experience can maintain the momentum for the duration of the season.
“Yes we have what it takes to keep this up all through the season,” says a confident Alaekwe.
“Though they are young players and are new in the league, I tell them in training you have to push, you have to work hard to get there.”
Hit by financial difficulties last season, FC Ifeanyi Ubah experienced an exodus of players sparking fears they will struggle in the current season.
It may be early days, but with 2 points on the road and maximum points from a home game, there will surely now be hope of a strong showing this season from the Nnewi side.
Ifeanyi Ubah will be at home to Yobe Desert Stars on Match Day 4.
