Alice Ogebe embraces importance of Social Media on footballers careers

Rivers Angels winger Alice Ogebe says the Ladies in Sports Conference held a week ago in Lagos further exposed her to the importance of social media.

Ogebe is one of three beneficiaries of the 50,000 naira grants that was given at the event themed ‘Developing the Women’s Game’. An award the former Delta Queens star merited for being last season’s Most Valuable Player in the Nigeria Women Premier League.

But Ogebe did not return to Port Harcourt with just her cash prize, the conference itself proved to be an eye-opener as it instilled in her the urge of “Putting ourselves where the media or whosoever that will be involved will see us”.

She added: “They want to know about us…. As a player we have to let them know that we are good, we have to show them what we can do how we can do it,” Ogebe told Channels TV.

“Unlike before I didn’t really like Instagram and all that…but now I have learnt the other way; that there is more advantage if you involve yourself in social media”.

Ogebe has been an exciting addition to Rivers Angels since joining the defending champions at the start of the 2016/17 season and her performance thus far earned her a place in the NWPL Team of the first stanza.
