Aluko’s Fulham clinch playoff spot, Olarenwaju bags brace, Omeruo sees red


Super Eagles forward Kayode Olanrewaju scored a brace in the 54th and 57th minutes for Austria Wein to help secure a 4-1 win over Sturm Graz in the Austrian league.

The newly capped Super Eagles player has now scored 20goals in all competitions (13 goals in the league, 5 in the Europa league, 2 in the cup competition).

In Turkey, Super Eagles central defender Kenneth Omeruo was shown a straight red card in the 45th minute in Alanyaspor’s 3-0 away defeat to Kayserispor . Omeruo is on loan from Chelsea.

Meanwhile Kayserispor featured Nigerian player Raheem Lawal in the side that triumphed over Omeruo’s team.

Over to China where Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye was hauled off in the 45th minute of the first half for 10 men Tianjin Teda who lost 0-3 to Hebei CFFC. Mikel Obi missed the encounter due to injury.

Still in China, Super Eagles forward and former Watford star Odion Ighalo missed Changchun Yatai’s 0-1 loss to Yanbian. Ighalo is currently nursing an ankle injury.

Finally, away from China to England where Sone Aluko helped Fulham secure a playoff spot for a chance to return to the EPL with a 1-1 draw against Brentford in the championship.

Aluko lasted the entire 90 minutes. The draw against Brentford ensured the London side are guaranteed to finish 6th with a game to spare.
