As the curtains gradually wind down on the 2016/17 English premier league season, former Super Eagles and Sunderland FC striker, Victor Anichebe is determined to help the black cats survive relegation.
Sunderland has spent most part of the ongoing season in the bottom half of relegation owning to injuries to key players and a managerial change.
Anichebe who was instrumental to the remarkable performance of the black cats in December before he got injured made a return to the team last week but did little to avert another 0-3 loss to Manchester united.
“It’s difficult coming back, and we do play to me, a lot down my side, it’s good for me but sometimes I think, you can see me in the games, I’m saying, go down the other side, build up from different places,” said Anichebe.
“It’s important we stick together. Lee Cattermole is coming back and I would like to see Steven Pienaar coming back, when we were doing well that time he was the one who would give me the ball, we linked up well, instead of the ball coming from 25 yards down to me, he’s the link between the full-back, just things like that. It’s the same thing over and over again, but I hope that we will improve and we will” he concluded.
Anichebe will hope to be in the starting lineup when Sunderland play hosts to West Ham United at the stadium of light this weekend.
