Abia Angels coach, Ann Chiejine has expressed her happiness with managing Abia Angels this season.
In a chat with journalists in Umuahia, the former Super Falcons goalkeeper said that her team is working on getting better, with particular focus on the striking department.
The goals were not just coming. We’ve seen so many faults and errors from our last two games, we’ll go ahead and work on them.
“We’re not scoring, we are going to work on our attackers and get them to shoot more often. I think we’re okay in other departments,” she said.
On the new recruitment of playing staff, she expressed her delight with an opportunity to work with the young squad.
“We’ve got a relatively new and young team with about 4 old players. They are ready to learn and it is a source for happiness.
“They listen and are ready to learn unlike the older ones. They’ll gel as a team over time.”
When pried for the team’s target for the season, Ann Chiejine informed that a target will be set later, after certain factors have been taken care off.
“The league has just started and we wouldn’t want to count our eggs before they are hatched, but by the middle of the season when our work will come to fruition, we’ll say our target,” the former Super Falcons assistant coach concluded.
Abia Angels play in the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) and have won one of their opening two games of the season, losing the other.
The Abia State based female team had 21 new additions to the team after an exodus of over 24 players last offseason.
