Awoniyi celebrates late Mouscron fightback against Gent

Former Dream Team striker and Liverpool loanee, Taiwo Awoniyi is excited to have helped his new Belgian Jupiler League side Royal Excel Mouscron to win against Genk on Sunday.

Awoniyi, who joined Mouscron from English Premier League giants Liverpool this summer, posed a serious threat to Gent defenders throughout the game as his club ran out 3-2 winners.

Gent who had three Nigeria players, Moses Simon, Anderson Esiti and Samuel Kalu in their matchday squad scored two quick goals in the first half before Mouscron rallied back in the second half and scored three goals to win the match.

The former NEC Nijmegen of Holland striker took to social media to express his excitement.

“A win, and an assist” #ThankyouGod” he wrote.

After four league matches, Royal Excel Mouscron are 4th on the Belgian Jupiler League table. They travel away to Kortrijk on Friday in their next match.
