On loan Liverpool FC young striker Taiwo Awoniyi stepped up his goal scoring form for Royal Mouscron with a goal in their 3-0 win over Lierse Saturday evening in the Belgium – First Division A Playoff.
After goals from Teddy Mezague and Selim Amallah in the 28th and 52nd minutes, it was the turn of Taiwo Awoniyi to register his name on the score sheet with an hour on the clock.
Awoniyi has now fired 9 goals in all competitions for Mouscron this season with eight of those coming in the league.
Taiwo Awoniyi it will be recalled was handed a two match ban after he was adjudged to have elbowed a Lokeren player in their 1-2 loss on the 3rd of March.
Awoniyi still only 20 years old, was also rewarded with a new contract by his parent club Liverpool, but is not expected to return to Anfield next season as another loan deal will be sanctioned to help him continue his development.
The former U-20 Flying Eagles star forward is still nursing the hopes of getting a Super Eagles call up, an ambition which should be attainable if he keeps up his fine form.
