English Premier League side Liverpool, have succeeded in waving away suitors off former Dream Team VI striker Taiwo Awoniyi, as he has extended his deal with the club.
Awoniyi who joined the Reds in 2015 spent last season on loan with the Belgian Jupiler league side Royal Mouscron.
The club announced the deal via its website on Tuesday and he expressed his happiness in signing extension with the former European champions.
“I feel excited and I feel very happy.
“It has been three years since I first came to Liverpool. So far, so good. The last year was the best for me, it has been an amazing year so far.
“I just have to keep working hard each year and I believe one day the dream will come true.
“Thanks to my family, who have been so supportive. I’m very glad and excited about this contract and hopefully to have an even better year, he told the club website.
The centre forward is expected to go out on loan again as he is yet to meet the required standard in order to secure a work permit in England.
He netted 10 goals in 31 appearances for Mouscron last season.
