AYC Qualifiers: Flying Eagles to play Guinea Bissau


Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will play Guinea Bissau in the qualifying rounds of the 2019 African Youth Championship.

Guinea Bissau edged past their Sierra Leonean opponents 1-0 on aggregate in a preliminary match.

The first leg ended 1-0 and the return led played on Saturday ended goalless.

The Nigerian team, drawn bye in the first round will clash with Guinea Bissau on the weekend of May 11 to 13 with the first leg in Guinea Bissau while the return leg is scheduled for Nigeria two weeks later.

The Flying Eagles have placed second at the FIFA U20 World Cup twice and will be hoping to go one better this time around but must qualify for the AYC slated for Niger next year.

The team which is currently in Abuja preparing for the matches ahead, travelled to Egypt in February and faced the Junior Pharaohs of Egypt in some friendly matches, recording one win and a draw.

Poland will host the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2019.
