After sustaining an injury in Friday night’s German Bundesliga clash between his club Mainz 05 and Schalke 04, Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun will soon be back on the pitch.
The defensive stalwart broke his cheek bone in the 2-0 loss and was subbed off in the 78th minute.
Balogun on Saturday underwent a successful surgery and he revealed it through his social media handle; “Cheek bone broken, Not my spirit though – Surgery went well. Won’t be gone too long. No wahala, No shaking”.
The player will likely sit out Nigeria’s last group game in the 2018 World Cup qualification phase against Algeria in November.
