Bendel Insurance gets punished by NNL


Nigeria National League, NNL management and disciplinary committee has come out with a strong punishment on Bendel Insurance Football club of Benin for bridging the rule of moral conduct of the Nigeria National League.

Bendel Insurance were slammed with a sum of two million naira (N2,000,000) fine for assaulting the match officials in their match day 31 home tie against UNICEM Rovers of Calabar and will also play their next three home games in the ongoing Bet9ja Nigeria National League behind closed doors.

However, three officials of Bendel Insurance will also face punishment as they are suspended and are to stay away from any Nigeria National League organised activities.

Among them is Mr. Ben Ogbemudia, the team’s media officer who’s placed on indefinite suspension for his unholy role in the match as he was caught throwing an object at the centre referee and also went ahead to slap the second assistant referee.

Bendel Insurance player, Mr. Ukanaku Anyin who wore jersey Number 30, has been banned for a year for attacking the centre referee. He was caught in the act of slapping the man at the centre when he was given his marching order.

Finally, Bendel Insurance club secretary, Mr. Charles Ihimekpen popularly known as “Chico” will also face the wrath of the Nigeria National League board. It’s observed that “Chico” incited fans to attack match officials and he’s been banned for six matches, starting from their next game against Papilo FC in Owerri.

The league body has directed Mr. Ben Ogbemudia, Mr. Anyin Ukanaku and Mr. Charles Ihimekpen to appear before its compliance Arm on Tuesday 12th of october, 2017 to answer why they should not be further punished for their misconduct.
