Dennis Bonaventure scored his first goal of 2018 for Club Brugge in Belgium to earn a point against Standard Liege in a match which ended 1-1 on Sunday evening.
Bonaventure has experienced a very torrid and dry spell in front of goal after starting the season in red hot form which saw him register 7 goals in all competitions at the beginning of the season.
Standard Liege who restored versatile Nigerian Uche Agbo in midfield took the lead via Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez in the 31st minute of the first half.
Bonaventure was subbed in to replace Abdoulaye Diaby in the 63rd minute of the second half assuming a super sub role to equalize nine minutes later. His guaranteed Club Brugge take share of spoils.
The 20-year-old Bonaventure has now notched his 8th goal of the campaign in 21 appearances of which he has started only nine matches since he joined the Belgian side from Ukrainian club Zorya Luhansk last summer.
Standard Liege midfield was marshaled by Uche Agbo whose work rate, ball recovery and tackles were mostly spot on.
Club Brugge sit comfortably at the summit of the Belgian league table with 61 points from 28 matches, 11 clear of second placed Sporting Charleroi. There next match will pit Bonaventure against Kotrijk parading another Nigerian in Abduljaleel Ajagun.
Meanwhile Uche Agbo’s Standard Liege are 7th on the log with 38 points and will face Mechelen next weekend.
