Brilliant Nwankwo scores brace in Crotone win

Nigerian striker Simmy Nwankwo is fast building a lethal goal scoring reputation after another fantastic performance for Crotone saw him fire a brace in a 4-1 win over Sassuolo in the Italian – Serie A early kickoff on Sunday.

Nwankwo scored his first goal in the 16th minute either side of a Marcello Trotta double in the 4th and 31st minutes.

Domenico Berardi pulled one back in the 41st minute for Sassuolo but it would prove no more than a consolation.

Nwankwo it was who had the final word when he restored Crotone’s 3 goal-lead with a goal in the 89th minute to make it 4-1 to the delight of the home fans that thronged the Stadio Ezio Scida.

Nwankwo 25, is on a three-game scoring run that have seen him hit the mark in an impressive 1-1 draw against Juventus and another in a 2-1 win away to Udinese.

The win moves Crotone to 14th place on the Serie A standings, away from the relegation places where they were placed at the start of the month.

Nwankwo has now scored 7 goals for Crotone from 20 games of which he has made only 8 starts.
