Turkish super Lig side Bursaspor has announced through their website the signing of Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong from Belgian Jupiler league side KAA Gent.
23-year-old Ekong has signed a three-year contract with Bursaspor who finished in 14th position last season. His move to Turkey sees the defender end his stay in Belgium where he was left unhappy with limited amount of playing time for KAA Gent.
“I am very happy to be here. After hearing the interest of Bursaspor to me, I was very excited to see this transfer take place sooner,” said an excited Ekong during his presentation
“I would like to thank our president and governor, anyone who contributed to the transfer, for their trust in me. Bursaspor is a very big club. Our fans have conveyed their good feelings to me since the first day. I will pay for the love of this love.”
Despite spending two years at Gent, Troost-Ekong only made 8 appearances at the Belgian side. He spent a part of the 2015/2016 season on-loan at Danish side, Haugesund.
The Nigerian has been an integral part of the Super Eagles under coach Gernot Rohr. He has 12 caps for the Super Eagles with the last coming in the AFCON qualifier against South Africa.
