Lobi Stars Coach Solomon Ogbeide is rueing his side’s missed opportunities, in the first leg of their preliminary CAF Champions league match against UMS de Loum of Cameroon at the Stade Millitaire De Ben Akanoun in Yaounde.
The Makurdi based club on Wednesday lost the match by a lone goal scored in the 64th min by Jean Adada.
Ogbeide believes bad fortune on their part cost them the game against a Loum side which he says was not better than his team.
“We played well. The goal came against the run of play,” said the Lobi Coach after the game.
“Not that they were better. It was a fluke goal. I didn’t expect such goal to beat my goalkeeper.”
Lobi Stars who are featuring in CAF’s elite club competition for the second time would be looking to do better or at least equal their last performance in the competition where they made the group stage in 2000.
An optimistic Ogbeide is however confident Lobi will qualify for the next stage of the tournament counting the first leg loss as a minor setback.
“It has happened, it has happened. I regret our missed chances. We’ll go back home and correct all the mistakes.”
