Akwa Ibom state Governor, Udom Emmanuel has ordered that the gates be thrown open on Wednesday when Akwa United hosts Al Hilal in the 2nd Leg of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Akwa lost 2-0 in the first leg in Sudan failing to score an away goal and now have to score 3 unreplied goals to guarantee progress to the group stage.
Governor Udom Emmanuel said the gesture is to ensure the Promise Keepers enjoy massive support from their fans and other lovers of football in the state during the crucial match.
Akwa United will hope to progress to the group stages of the competition for the first time in their history.
With the capacity of the Godswill Akpabio stadium at 30,000, Akwa United will surely get a boost in confidence if the stadium gets filled up.
The players’ determination and coaches’ tactical prowess will however be key in determining if the Promise Keepers get to move on to the next stage.
