CAFCC: Group Stage draw holds April 21 as Nigerian clubs walk tight rope

The Confederation of African Football, CAF has confirmed April 21 as the official draw date for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The continent’s football governing body announced the date via it’s website on Tuesday.

Ahead of the second leg of the playoffs scheduled for Wednesday April 18th across concerned venues in Africa, Nigerian clubs participating in the competition walk a tightrope.

Except for former African Champions Enyimba who recorded an encouraging 1-1 away draw against Bidvest Wits in far away Johannesburg in South Africa, others had unimpressive results.

Plateau United pipped the opponent USM Algers 2-1 and need to go to Algeria and play out at least a draw to have a chance of progressing.

Aiteo cup Champions Akwa United lost to Al Hilal of Sudan 2-0 away and must now score three unreplied goals to advance.

MFM’s case seem to be almost over as they were stunned by their counterpart from Mali, Djoliba Fc.

The Church boys must now go to Bamako and beat Djoliba outrightly to move to the group stage.

The draw will come up in Cairo with a representative of each qualifying teams on present.
