CAFCC: NPFL teams avoid each other


The four NPFL teams in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup have been paired against teams from other nations in the playoffs for the group stage of the CAF second tier club competition.

Before the draws in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday, there was possibility of the four NPFL teams being drawn against each other in the final round of the qualifiers.

NPFL champions Plateau United and Lagos based club MFM FC dropped from the CAF Champions League, while Enyimba International and Akwa United defeated their opponents to reach the playoff round.

Plateau Utd have been paired against USM Alger of Algeria and the NPFL champions will be at home for the first leg. MFM FC have been paired against Djoliba AC of Mali with the first leg at the Soccer Temple, Agege.

Akwa United will travel to face El-Hilal of Sudan while Enyimba will away to South Africa to battle Bidvest Wits in the first leg of their respective fixtures.

The playoff matches will come up between 8th – 18th of April. The winner of both fixtures will proceed to the 16-team group stages of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

CAF Confederation Cup playoff draws:

El-Hilal (Sudan) vs Akwa Utd.
Plateau Utd vs USM Alger (Algeria).
MFM FC vs Djoliba AC (Mali)
Bidvest Wits (South Africa) vs Enyimba Int’l.
