Egyptian giants Al-Ahly defied all odds to qualifiy for the semi final of the CAF champions league by stunning their host Esperance in Tunis on Saturday night.
After playing out a 2-2 draw a fortnight ago in Cairo, all hope seemed to have been lost, until former Nigeria Dream Team VI striker Junior Ajayi rekindled their hopes in front of a 60,000 capacity in Rades.
Esperance took a second-leg lead through leading scorer Taha Yassine Khenissi off a 40th-minute penalty.
Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul levelled for Al Ahly soon after half-time and when the home team went searching for the winner, Al Ahly caught them on the counter which Ajayi buried in the 62nd minute to silent the crowd.
After helping Al Ahly to clinch a domestic double, he has succeeded again in taking them to the semi final of the Champions on a 4-3 aggregate.
