Nigeria’s sole campaigner in the CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars of Markurdi suffered a 3-1 defeat in far away Kenya in the first leg of the Champions League against KPL Champions, Gor Mahia at the Kasarani Stadium in Kenya.
The Pride of Benue went behind as early as to the 5th minute through Jacques Tuyisenge before Samuel Onyango doubled the host lead at the half hour mark.
Samad Kadiri reduced the tally a moment later, but Onyango increased the game to 3-1 before Lobi could settle down.
The host dominated the second stanza but was kept at bay by Lobi stars defenders lead by Emmanuel Agbaji.
The Nigerian side will have the opportunity to redeem their image and qualify for the next stage when they play host to Gor Mahia in the return leg scheduled for next weekend.
