There was no Chinese early morning drowsiness this time around, as the League Cup Fourth Round draw was made after the Third Round matches.
The pick of the draw looks to be the clash between Chelsea and Everton at the Bridge. The two sides have already met in the league this season, where the Blues (Chelsea, that is) prevailed with relative ease, and they’re likely to be favourites when they meet in October.
Another draw with exciting anticipation is the Wembley clash between London rivals Tottenham and West Ham. Spurs haven’t had the best of times in their new home, but did grab a third round victory there against Barnsley.
Holders Manchester United saw off Burton Albion last night, which didn’t prevent manager Jose Mourinho from saying he wasn’t against seeing the League Cup scrapped, but his side’s bid to retain the cup sees its next test in the form of a trip to face South Welsh side Swansea at the Liberty stadium, where they’ve already won this season.
Elsewhere, Arsenal will host Norwich City, while Manchester City are to welcome Championship side Wolves and Crystal Palace will travel to Bristol City.
