Confederation of African Football (CAF), have cleared the three Super Eagles
who got booked in the first round of the 2018 African Nations Championship
(CHAN) in Morocco, ahead of today’s quarter-final match against Angola.
Nigeria had a clean caution bill against Rwanda in the first group game, Kalu Orji and Dayo Ojo were booked in the second game against Libya, while Stephen Eze was booked in Agadir against Equatorial Guinea in the last game.
Naijafootballplus.com made an enquiry about the rules and regulation of the
tournament, to avoid a repeat of the show of shame in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which saw Nigeria fined and fotfeited 3 points to Algeria.
2018 CHAN rules and regulations article 42.2 revealed that, all single cautions in the group games are cancelled before the quarter-final matches.
“The cautions received during the match qualifying phase shall not be taken into account for the matches of the Final Tournament. At the end of the first phase of the Final Tournament (group matches), all cautions received shall be cancelled for the rest of the competition. Nevertheless,
a player having collected two yellow cards will sustain the one match suspension,” the rules says.
Coach Salisu Yusuf will however have his full complement of his 23-man squad, for the game against Angola on Sunday.
