Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf has said that preparations to invite and start camping home-based players for the African Nations Championship qualifiers is in top gear.
Speaking to Sports radio station Brila FM in Lagos on Thursday morning, Yusuf said the Federation has concluded plans to start the camping of players at the end of June or first week of July ahead of the August game.
“The CHAN Eagles program is on course. We’ll open the CHAN Eagles camp at the end of June or first week of July” he stated.
CHAN Eagles who crashed out of the group stage in the last edition held in Rwanda will be looking to redeem their image and emulate the first time Nigeria took part in the competition in 2013 when the team led by Late Stephen Keshi finished third in the competition.
Nigeria will play her first qualifying match against the winner between Republic of Benin and Togo, on August 11, 2017 with the Nigeria playing away first, while the second-leg will come up in Nigeria on August 18, 2017.
Kenya will host the next edition of Chan.
