Chinedu Obasi quits Chinese club for AIK return

Former Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi has left Chinese second division club Shenzhen FC to join Swedish club AIK.

Obasi who shot to limelight at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup terminated his contract with the chinese outfit to rejoin AIK. The Nigerian previously played for AIK in 2016 before he moved to Shenzhen in January 2017.

The 31-year-old forward becomes the latest addition to the Friends Arena outfit and will stay with the club until the end of the 2017-18 season.

Obasi has been presented the No. 20 jersey and now awaits the Swedish Football Association for registration and clearance.

He is expected to report in Sweden on August 1 to begin club duties according to AIK’s website.

The former Lyn Oslo, Schalke 04, and Hoffenheim striker scored four times in 18 games for the Super Eagles with reoccurring injury problems limiting the skillful forward from realizing his full potentials at both national and club levels.
