Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, has used the highest adjective possible to describe the goal scoring debut of Nigerian striker Kayode Olarenwaju in Shakhtar Donetsk’s game against Zorya Fc on Sunday, summing it up as perfect.
Kayode could not have dreamt of a better debut for Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, after scoring within minutes of stepping onto the pitch to make it 3-nil.
Kayode who cut short his unsuccessful loan spell at Spanish La Liga club Girona from his parent club Manchester City, replaced Facundo Ferreyra in the 90th minute in a supposed run out, but he scored in two minutes of added time to earn high praise from his new coach.
”In the few remaining minutes he scored. Just perfect! No matter how much time is left – one, five, ten or twenty minutes – a football player should behave appropriately, showing dedication and efficacy on the pitch,” Fonseca said while speaking in a post match interview according to shakhtar.com
Fonseca also hailed the display of his other substitutes alongside Kayode.
”Dentinho, Kayode and Zubkov played for a very short period, but they did prove themselves, making a big contribution.”
Kayode Olarenwaju made his senior debut for the Super Eagles last year but his lack of playing time for Girona meant coach Gernot Rohr had to look elsewhere for strikers.
